“The meaning of the Hanged Man in tarot is one of ultimate sacrifice or changed perspective, yet is here depicted as a headless pregnant woman. In this work I sought to depict the emotional well-being of people forced into pregnancy with a bold and stark singular figure. She has no perspective, without her heart and her mind her body rapidly returns to the earth.”

Miranda Darling

Miranda Darling (she/her) is a native of Florida’s Gulf Coast and holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. There her primary focus was painting and drawing with an exploration in fiber arts. It was there that her draftsmanship came to the service of her visions, which over time have spanned sublime landscapes on a micro/macro scale, emotional terrain filled with magic and pattern, and more recently personal narratives.
